Heroine

hmmmm... Watch it for Kareena Kapoor.

She looks good and acts well. That's all about this movie.

I think Madhur Bhandarkar should start looking out of his industry and look for fresh scripts. This picture Heroine is more of a extension of his last film Fashion. The side actors are shown more as caricatures than real life characters. Though the research seems accurate but editing is really bad. Mahi's character is informed a lot of times as impulsive and random but The reason  for her behaviour is not built up. As we say suni sunai kahaniyan. The story is told by a journalist who God alone knows why she was close and how she knew so much about Mahi. The PR manager's entry was abrupt. No background was given as to why suddenly Mahi became sensible to hire a top brand confident PR manager.

The decision to adopt a child was again surprising and abrupt. Too many things to be told in this story without building up the need to do so. Arjun Rampal as her lover was again presented with shades of gray. His silence may be good or bad for Mahi but what goes inside him had to be shown in a better fashion.

Cricket and Bollywood - Enters Randeep Hooda .. Who suddenly is shown interested in Mahi though in the first few rushes he seems not even an aquaintentence to Mahi.

So to sum.. A story told randomly made a bit too long and not stitched neatly. The screenplay had potential, the makers had money ... But to no avail...

Anyhow as I said , watch it for Kareena Kapoor.thats it.

Barfi

Category : Hindi movie
Entertainment

Barfi.... A film to watch. Because love requires no words.

We all believe that. But making a movie with lead actor as mute character called Barfi was a brave attempt by the people who believed in this. The first half of the movie is very entertaining. It is a cake walk for Ranbeer Kapoor. He acts convincingly and looks sooooo handsome... All he says in the movie is his name.. That's it. Imagine.  However I felt every emotion displayed by Barfi, enjoyed his playfulness and understood his need.

The second half shows how love and trust are more than enough for two people to live happily together. Two people who would have otherwise been so dependent on others had they lived within the norms of this society. However they chose to live it their way. Without the so called comforts of the society. Their togetherness was more than enough. priyanka Chopra is a great performer and has done brilliantly in this movie.

Enjoy the love togetherness that u have with each other instead of getting upset on the material things that. May or may not have... My take away. Let me know yours :)

Enjoy...

Ek tha Tiger.

*ing : Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Category : Hindi movie.

18 aug'2012.

Well, to see Salman Khan's movie the audience would buy tickets at a premium. And I did that ..initially when I read the news I thought, what nonsense. But within seconds of thinking that, a second thought struck me, why not? Salman is an entertainer and I love watching the over the board stunts that he does in his films. So,why not?

Coming back to the film " ek tha Tiger".
Entertaining with a story narrated with a pinch of salt.India and Pakistan's tiff over ' God knows what'. I loved the dialogue Salman said in the movie that our love cannot be waiting for the two countries to stop fighting. And when I loved the Pakistani girl I did not  know she was an enemy and when I knew I wondered why is she my enemy.

Commendable performances by all the actors. Ranveer Shorey, Girish Karnad, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The lead actors definitely look great and perform even better. The Jodi is a hit. Katrina's simplicity behind a very beautiful face is evident, the firm expressions and the undying love and understanding is displayed with conviction.

Salman's over the edge stunts especially catching the flying aircraft was amazing yet believable. This movie is out and out a Salman film. I simply lived watching him. He knows how to carry himself and has a crafted body.

So all in all a premium ticket to buy To watch a Salman khan movie does not pinch me.

***.5 rating.
Don't judge just watch and enjoy.

Planning a kids birthday party at home.

Birthday party planning..... Well I am generally very upbeat about planning small/big time events at home. My mind starts working overtime leaving me sleepless with various ideas. Some executionable and some not. I have successfully had three birthdays at home for my now five year old son.

Let me start giving you the insight.
One was in Gurgaon in year 2010 and the rest two are in Mumbai. Gurgaon : being a Delhite I swear by the city and find everything easily available especially if u are in the city of Gurgaon. A few things that are a must in my party are 1- balloon decoration 2- streamers 3- banners 4- character cake. So I started searching for a shop which gives me everything in birthday party supplies. I searched the galleria market... Found the decoration expenses over priced. A visit to Sadar bazaar market in Gurgaon was great. There's a shop in the market by the name of "utsav". I got the balloons, streamers, piƱata, return gifts from here. He sent one person for decoration of ballons on the birthday and it was economical and quick too.i have somehow lost this guys contact number but I assure google should be helpful. It's a two storeyed shop in the middle of the main lane of Sadar bazaar market. A must try .... He has everything.. I did not like the confectionary but he makes cakes on order. Choice of cake shops is huge in Gurgaon.

Now to Mumbai. Well, as most people who shift from Delhi, Suburbs are the best places to stay. We are in Andheri East. 2011 birthday planning sent me to all nooks and corner of nearby markets like Alfa, Takshila, station (Andheri and goregaon),oberoi mall and The Hub.Finally I decided to buy the return gifts from Takshila market( Priority shop) and decoration from Archie's in The Hub mall.I order all confectionary from Croissonts. I ordered a McQueen car cake which turned out delicious and beautiful. He is a self confessed car freak.

The fifth birthday was also celebrated at home. After searching a lot of stationary and toy shops I decided to give return gifts : a table mat with cartoon characters like McQueen, ben10, Cinderella , snow white, winny the pooh. I bought them from home store, lifestyle. Funskool travel games from First choice, takshila market. This shop has amazing gifts and return gifts apart from great gift item options. He also has books of various kinds.color books, activity books. Crossword stores also keeps great variety of activity books which can be given as return gifts.
Decoration :- cheap jack at Bandra hill road and richirich at Santacruz has very good buying options.
Look for plastic transparent glasses in the disposable glass category. Cheap jack also stores awesome laces and buttons. A shop worth trying. Archie's at the Hub mall also has good options of disposable paper plates, glasses, plastic table cloth, paper napkins and Invites.

As far as the menu goes:- following options were a great hit in all these parties
- twisters
- donut bites from Mad over Donuts
- garlic bread from Dominos
- masala idly bites
- home made popcorns
- French fries
- pan pizzas from pizza hut
- smileys
- fruits on skewers
Games :-
- dart game
- follow the steps
- pin the donkeys tale
- musical chair
Tattoo artist and Magic show are also enjoyable.

Here's wishing a tension free and organised birthday party.

- chocolate cake fountain. ( I could not arrange for a fountain so I gave each kid a small size bowl filled with chocolate to dip the cake pieces arranged on tooth picks).
